No. 355.

Government House,

Hong Kong, 17th July, 1928.

Sir,

With reference to your despatch No.27 of 19th

January, 1928, I have the honour to state that this Colony

has agreed to schedule Gibraltar for the purpose of continuous

pension arrangments as from 1st April, 1927. Recalculation

of the pension awarded to Mr. J. R. Crook, 0.B.E., in respect of his service in Hong Kong will therefore be necessary.

2.

I enclose a copy of a letter ad rossed to the

Colonial Secretary, Gibraltar, to which is attached an amended

statement of the total emoluments drawn by r. Crook in

Hong Kong, treating leave without pay as service on full pay

for this purpose.

I shall be glad if I may be informed in due

course of the amount of pension for which Mr. Crook will be

eligible from Hong Kong funds under the new arrangements and

if the Crown Agents may be instructed to issue pension

accordingly, making adjustment in respect of the pension

already paid.

3.

I hope shortly to submit to you for approval

amendments of the Hong Kong Pension Minute, bringing into

effect the proposals in your circular despatch of 14th
